Aaron Ramsey’s Rangers transfer labeled ‘nothing special’ by Celtic star Josip Juranovic
Rangers’ signing of Aaron Ramsey is ‘nothing special’, claims Celtic star Josip Juranovic.
The capture of the Wales international sent shockwaves through Scottish football due to his status and history at the highest level, as well as the astronomical wages he was receiving at Juventus.
However, someone who is insensitive is the Croatian full-back who insists it’s not like the Gers have signed Cristiano Ronaldo, a player who can damage teams single-handedly.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s Old Firm derby, which Ramsey will not take part in, Juranovic dismissed his threat going forward.
The 26-year-old said: “It’s just Ramsey. It’s nothing special.
“If you have, say, Cristiano Ronaldo in the team and the team isn’t doing well, it’s not just one player that’s going to change the game, you have to play all 11.
“We have really quality players here – and we have to watch ourselves.”
Juranovic bowed out in the huge game earlier this season when the Light Blues cruised to a 1-0 win thanks to Filip Helander’s header at Ibrox.
The Croatian believes his side have come a long way since then which will make for a totally different game, and they will also be supported by their own fans this time around.
“I’m very excited because it will be a stadium full of our fans,” he added.
“It’s a big game and we can’t wait to play it. We are always ready.
“You can’t say we played badly when we played against them in my first match.
“It was a great game for us because we had four chances. I don’t think they had any. They scored from a corner.
“Then we were only playing maybe two weeks together.
“Now it’s a bit longer and we know each other. It will be a totally different game. We are very strong.
“We are a family on and off the pitch. Team spirit is the most important thing.
“I’m really happy at Celtic. It’s five months, but I feel like I’m here maybe three or four years.
