Chipotle brand veteran William Espey joins fast-growing virtual catering company Nextbite
Award-Winning Branding Expert Espey Brings 19 Years of Chipotle Brand Development and Growth to Nextbite
DENVER, August 03, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Nextbite, a leader in virtual restaurants, today announced that William Espey, a 19-year industry veteran and former Brand Voice of Chipotle Mexican Grill, has joined the company as Director of Creative Services. Espey will lead Nextbite’s creative team as the company rapidly expands its portfolio of virtual brands which include George Lopez Tacos and HotBox by Wiz Khalifa, as well as a growing collection of concepts from bestsellers Miss Mazy’s Amazing Chicken To Grilled cheese company. Under Espey’s direction, the Brand Creative team oversees all creative assets, from conceptual logos and photography to Nexbite.io and Ordermark.com websites, B2B and B2C marketing campaigns.
An award-winning branding expert, Espey has been instrumental in creating and evolving Chipotle’s unique brand voice and customer experience. Joining Chipotle when she had less than 20 sites as her sole marketing creative, he organized the development of the brand as it expanded to more than 2,400 sites in the United States and abroad. This role has involved hundreds of campaigns and initiatives that have won dozens of the advertising industry’s most prestigious awards, including a Cannes Grand Prix, Gold and Silver Lions, Emmy Awards, Clios, Webbys, etc.
“Back then, Chipotle was a key player in the fast casual revolution and now I see the next era unfolding in the foodservice space with virtual brands like the ones we are developing at Nextbite,” Espey said. “I feel like lightning has struck twice for me in my career, and I am fortunate to be part of this new wave of restaurant innovation. The growth potential is staggering, and successful brand development for virtual restaurants will be the key to increasing brand awareness and trials and building customer loyalty. “
“William brings incredible experience and insights from Chipotle’s remarkable journey that will help Nextbite make our unique mark on the evolving restaurant industry,” said Alex Canter, CEO and co-founder of Nextbite. “With virtual restaurants, we have to make sure that all touchpoints with our customers match the brand and exceed expectations. William has the expertise and spark that will help our brands thrive and set themselves apart from the competition, while creating engaging experiences for our customers.
Espey said he was particularly drawn to Nextbite because of the company’s business model which helps existing restaurants be more successful through collaboration instead of generating more competition. He described his first impression of Nextbite as “a brilliant solution that works in partnership with local restaurants while giving customers access to a growing variety of cuisines where they want, when they want”.
Nextbite strives to help partner restaurants successfully enter the virtual restaurant space by diversifying their portfolio, utilizing underutilized workforce and kitchen capacity, and driving demand to increase margins and income. Founded in 2019, Nextbite is the only complete virtual catering solution for existing restaurants and kitchens that combines the proven Ordermark order / delivery management solution with a selection of highly visible, on-trend and delivery-exclusive brands. Denver-based Nextbite / Ordermark recently announced the closing of its $ 120 million funding round led by SoftBank.
