Rangers are branded ‘small’ and ‘amateur’ over the blanket as line of sponsorship continues
Tam McManus called Rangers “small” and “amateur” after hiding the cinch brand for TV interviews.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Scott Wright were interviewed following the 3-1 win over Motherwell on Saturday, but there was a notable difference from when Graham Alexander was interviewed.
The Fir Park boss spoke to Sky Sports in front of the club’s advertising boards, then when Rangers did, there was tape on the cinch mark.
The Ibrox club fought with the SPFL over cinch sponsorship and refused to wear the logo on their kit all season.
But McManus thinks the whole situation is bad for the club and the league in general when people in England and elsewhere see Rangers doing this.
He told PLZ Soccer: “It’s just petty and it’s not nice for people in the south to see that.
“Duct tape, white duct tape, on a sponsor. It’s totally amateurish.
Regularly this season, Rangers have done their pitchside interviews to avoid the line of sponsorship, while at the Tony Macaroni Arena they have done so in front of a white background.
Cinch will continue to sponsor all four SPFL leagues until the end of the 2025/26 season.
